How the backup works?
The backup is not automatic, Silverhost will NOT back up your server! If you buy a backup then you have to create the backup!
What is the VPS?
The VPS (Virtual Private Server) is like a server in that it has a separate IP address, separate MySQL, processor, and storage resources, but only part of a full, high-capacity server. It is like a house divided into several parts, where each occupant has a full, given square meter.
In the case of a VPS, the server is divided into several separate parts, so it does not depend on the activity of another user; If another VPS uses too much memory, it will not affect your VPS in any way, since you e.g. you are running a separate operating system.
So you essentially get a virtually separate server that is identical in features to a separate server.
What can I use VPS for?
The queue is almost endless, you can use it for a more resource intensive page, maybe if you want to serve more hosting than a web designer, programmer, or even a hosting provider. You can use it because your unique page requires an operating system and settings that are not or only very difficult to implement elsewhere, much more expensive. But it can be used for joint program development, testing, and just about anything you want! You can even use it to create and run your own game server.
What is a Cloud VPS?
Cloud computing is spreading very fast, gaining significant ground over “traditional” VPS. The point is that the servers do not run on their own infrastructure or on a dedicated stand-alone machine, but instead on a server farm with gigantic computing and storage capacity that is built from multiple server connections. When setting up such server farms, in addition to significant capacity, the most important considerations are the fault tolerance of the infrastructure and the availability of more components than necessary (servers, storage, network devices). This is to ensure that a failure of a device does not cause servers running in the cloud to shut down, as other systems can easily take over its service functions.
Is Cloud VPS better than traditional VPS?
Because of the redundant design of the cloud, you don’t have to worry about a user failing to access their own VPS due to a technical or other technical error. Due to the significant capacity, the VPS creation and expansion options are fully automated, so you don’t have to wait when you want to expand. Our cloud-based VPS servers can be modified via the dashboard. Not only can the resources be changed here (e.g. RAM limit modification, etc.), but the system can also be completely reinstalled, so you don't necessarily need administrator help, unlike traditional VPSs.
What else is important to know?
The VPS can only be accessed by you with full (root) rights, you can change anything and run anything. Most popular 32- and 64-bit operating systems run. For this reason, of course, our company is not responsible for the operation of the VPS software, but we will try our best to ensure that it works properly. That's why we've made schema operating and service packages available in the VPS admin interface, so you can install a new working server in minutes with just a few clicks!
Is there DDOS protection?
Yes. Our system uses Arbor and Juniper hardware to protect your data and systems. The system automatically detects attack patterns, and the system can identify and clearly identify the actual attack and then intervene specifically according to the type of attack. What does this mean? For example, a UDP flood that is 500,000 pps harmless to a server, but a 500,000 SYN packet may already be a problem. Our DDOS protection system can accurately identify such differences. Based on known attack patterns, our system automatically filters traffic to your server. Our system is extremely effective in preventing DNS, NTP reflections, and UDP flooding on port 80. Finally, in the last layer, our system effectively filters out SYN and DNS flooding, as well as attacks in the form of invalid packets. Our system is able to adapt to individual attacks and reliably mitigate them. Of course, we are constantly improving our system.
